So, I heard some people couldn’t get in last night (read the GVB comments section), which is a shame. We got there a little bit after 10 — when doors were supposed to open — and the door host was already saying it was guest-list only. One thirties-ish guy in a suit looked miffed.
It was fun, if you were able to get inside.
Sober and Select got the dance floor packed early. Everyone shouted along to Blaq Starr’s “Hands Up Thumbs Down,” which is still, like, the anthem. Then Flosstradamus came on and whipped everyone into a frenzy — a little House of Pain, a little of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” mixed with Pitbull’s “Shake.” Most of the songs they played were recognizable.
K.S. took the stage (really a concrete block near the DJ booth) around 12:45 a.m., in this cute little black-and-white dress and white cut-off shorts. I think she was drinking white wine.
Couldn’t really understand too well what she was saying, because she was yelling so loud into the microphone. But she was fun to watch — she bounced around and did a booty dance, shouted out to Dallas, threw her arms in the air. Her brother (Josh of Flosstradamus) stood next to her most of the time as her back-up hype guy.
I kept thinking: How cool would it be to perform with your brother? He’s apparently a really nice brother, too. She told me he bought her a Marc Jacobs dress for her birthday, after querying all her girlfriends to see what she wanted. My own bro didn’t even send a card on my last b-day. So we’re all not as lucky.
Anyway: Fun times. See you at Diplo. Maybe the entrance policy will be a bit looser then...
