DMN artist Layne Smith has come up with a way to calculate the compatibility of you and your sweetie. He created the True Love Compatibility Checker, where you type in your names and find out if you're meant to be. For example, Jessica Simpson and boy wonder Tony Romo? 35 percent compatible.
If you're curious about how he did it, find out after the jump...
Smith says:
We do a straight letter comparison. The words “True Love” are your baseline. When you enter names, it compares all the letters in your name with those in “True Love.”
The score is broken down into digits: the ten spot and the one spot. For example, with 97 percent, 9 is the ten spot and 7 is the one spot.
To get the ten spot number, you see how many T’s, R’s, U’s and E’s are shared by both names.
To get the one spot number, you see how many L’s, O’s, V’s and E’s are shared by both names.
Yes, E is in both, but you count them separately for each spot. So if you shared 3 E’s you get 3 for TRUE and 3 for LOVE.
The highest score you can get is >100 percent. The math got overly complicated because you had to carry the one back and forth between the ten and the one spot.
This is based on the game some girls I know played in elementary school. It’s meant to be fun at an adolescent level, not at a statistical/mathematical level.
