Now that's good horseplay

A fun story to end your day:

According to the Los Angeles Times, a "small-time gambler" in England last week bet 50 pence (about $1), and correctly picked eight winning horses at different tracks. At combined odds of nearly 2.8 million to one, the unidentified man won 1 million pounds ($1.98 million).

One winning horse was named Isn't That Lucky. Another: A Dream Come True.

Lovin' the lake, not the construction

Check out this video about the trail construction at White Rock Lake. (Side note...I think it's from the day of the Texas Half, Feb. 9). I've visited several Lake-related Web sites (such as For the Love of the Lake) to find out more about the construction, but I haven't had any luck finding out when it's going to be finished or how wide the trail is going to be and what it's going to look like when it's done. Anyone have any info?

Dancing with the Sox

In keeping with the popularity of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, which starts a new season March 17, members of the Red Sox decided to show off their moves to support Mike Lowell's charity. Check out Jonathan Papelbon's lacy garment.

Papelbon, known for the Irish jigs he did during the postseason, was reportedly asked to join the show, but he had some little baseball season to attend to. Maybe if they start their next season in November?

So many storylines, so little time

With the series finale of The Wire just six days away, I have one question: How will they ever wrap everything up in only 90 minutes?

Listening to a recent radio interview, I heard that the writers promise Sunday's episode won't have a Hollywood (happy) ending. But, they did say there will be a couple of silver linings.

I wouldn't bet on McNulty worming his way off the hook though.

Anyone have theories on how this will finish?

UPDATE: Van Halen tour canceled?

From our friends at the Playlist blog:

The American Airlines Center box office hotline says tonight's Van Halen concert is postponed until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, and that tickets from tonight's show will be honored.
