Some random randomness

boduke.jpg

Yee-haw: Actor John Schneider, a.k.a. Bo Duke, took the General Lee for a spin (above) before Sunday's NASCAR race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. They were also rolling over replica cop cars from The Dukes of Hazzard. Does prerace entertainment get better than that? Is Eddie Gossage reading?

Star power: Saturday night's North Carolina-Duke game was attended by Peyton and Eli Manning and Matthew McConaughey.

Cubicle confessions

What are other people in your office thinking? Well, who knows ... it could be one of these exact things -- as posted anonymously on trueofficeconfessions.com:

"People wearing spandex in 2008 should be shot."

"You are getting creepier the longer I know you."

"For 30 minutes, my manager went off about her Saturday night, which consisted of her going home late, her family not waiting for her to eat dinner, throwing a plate of steaks in the living room at her husband's head, going on a rage-induced spending spree ($500) ..." [It gets even better. Or worse, depending on your outlook.]

"Will I ever have fun again?"

But it's not all doom and gloom down on the ol' cubicle farm. I did find this ONE glimmer of hope:

"I just ate a big piece of chocolate cake and now I feel sick ..."

Mmmmmm... cake.

Heath Ledger's will

Heath Ledger's family said this weekend that the late actor's daughter will be taken care of, even though Ledger made no mention of her in his will. The Brokeback Mountain star, who died earlier this year at age 28, wrote the will in 2003, before the birth of daughter Matilda Rose. Ledger left everything he owned to his parents and sister.

Staying in character

A follow-up to my earlier post about the crossover between The Wire and Homicide actors:

Another actor who has been on each show is Richard Belzer. Belzer made a cameo appearance as Detective John Munch on a February episode of The Wire. Belzer also played that character on Homicide, and currently is Munch on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In fact, according to imdb.com, Munch is currently the longest-running character on U.S. prime time drama television. Belzer has played Munch since 1993, and is the only actor ever to play the same character on nine different TV shows, beating George Wendt (Norm Peterson) and John Ratzenberger (Cliff Clavin).

Charmed no more

Tonight's series finale of The Wire is not only the last episode of a great television series, but it also is the end of an era for the city of Baltimore.

Writer and creator David Simon has a long relationship with Charm City. The former Baltimore Sun crime reporter not only based The Wire in Baltimore, but his previous television show on NBC, Homicide: Life on the Streets, also shot all seven seasons (1993-1999) there.

The two shows not only share the same streets, but often the same actors as well.

OUCH CHARLIE!
